this little guy is soooo adorable and i had a great time with his mom, dad, and him at his shoot! it was boiling hot out and he was thirsty and alert *almost* the entire session!! i was so excited to get outside with him and try some shots in the grass. thank you mom and dad for obliging me!

d and a have a lot of history in banff so they made the trip out for their engagement session! we had a blast at all the different (and super beautiful) locations and they even rolled up their pants and put their feet in the icy water at the bow river. i am so so so excited for their winter wedding!

it’s official…

electric green photography is no more!! i am now carla marie photography inc. and i am SO excited!

this change has been a looong time coming and although i still love the name ‘electric green’, carla marie photography inc. is a name that will take me well into the future.

along with my new name i have a new look to this blog (which i am sure you noticed!), a fancy dancy new website (check it out- www.carla-marie.com), a new Facebook page (which you should totally go and ‘like’), the coolest new biz cards (i can’t wait to give out my first one!), new packaging, etc, etc. things have been super extra busy around here because in the middle of the busy season i was working on all of this!

a big, huge, major, thank you goes out to drew (my hub) who has been ignored many, many nights over the last couple of months while i am working in front of the computer late into the night, my parents and in-laws for babysitting bree so i could get work done during the day, my friends who have been (for the most part) ignored, and my clients who have been dealing with longer than usual response times with email and phone.

i hope things will now be business as usual around here.

i really hope everyone enjoys the new look! let me know what you think.

since last summer i have been slowly working on changing from electric green photography to carla marie photography. i am almost ready to launch my new site and brand. things are finally starting to totally come together and it won’t be much longer. for now, enjoy the new look to the blog!

this little family is so adorable!! i spent an awesome afternoon with them not too long ago to capture some relaxed family portraits. their images make me smile. i hope you do too…

on a personal note, i have been going back and forth about whether or not i want to continue to shoot families and have *finally* decided that i will take a limited number of family sessions and that they will be very relaxed lifestyle sessions! i really want to capture your family the way you are!! if you are interested in documenting who you are and where your family is right now please send me an email. in order to update my family portfolio i am having a special on family and newborn photography sessions which take place in may or june. i hope to hear from you soon. and, if you know someone who desperately needs family photos please send them my info.

bree turns one

bree turned one while we were in hawaii!! i had all these great big plans for her one year photo session and then between naps, sunrise, sunset, busy beaches, rain and the rest of it, it didn’t go exactly as planned. but, i am thrilled with the results nonetheless. we actually shot this stuff all on her actual birthday which i think makes it super cool. the whole thing was so priceless! i swear she woke up on her birthday and knew it was her day. she was so funny. it started with wearing her super cool shades right from the hotel room to our first stop. it was hilarious to see all the tourists (especially all the lovely japanese) pointing and giggling at her! she looked like such a diva.

:: bree and my mom share a birthday! how cool is that?! my mom didn’t do a cake smash session or a topless beach shoot but we did have a lovely day and celebrated at supper and drinks with everyone.

we started off on a beautiful patch of grass with some birthday cake…

after the cake the grass skirt went on for some shots. we started with the grass and then moved to the beach. miss bree likes to sleep in so by the time we got to the beach it was already packed. we just plopped her down in the sand and she did her thing…

after a yummy lunch of her favourites (quesidilla and lots of blueberries, watermelon, and pineapple) we headed to the aquarium (bree loves fishies!) then back to the room for a nice long nap followed by gifts at the pool…

pheuuuuffff, it was such a great day. after gifts, we all went for supper together to celebrate bree and my mom’s birthday. bree loved watching the japanese cooking being done in front of her and loved being sang to! it was a perfect first birthday for our perfect little girl!

:: i swear i will share some sessions with people other than bree or my family soon. i still have a 2010 wedding to share, a gorgeous bump session, some of my favourite “candids” and so much more!

aloha again everyone!! here is a quick little pic of my babes on the north shore on sunday. bree loved sunset beach and sat in the shade of a palm tree with her grandma and grandpa while drew and i played in the waves. it was a great day!

it has been so awesome to be away and have time to really relax and think. i have decided on some things about my business and am excited to do some portfolio building when i get home. if you know anyone having a baby in the spring let them know i will be having a portfolio building newborn special when i return. sessions will be a departure from previous newborn shoots seen on my blog. details will follow when i return home.

my 2011 is off to an amazing start!! i am taking loads of images of my two favourite subjects (pictured below having a piano lesson!) and hibernating and relaxing because of the cold. we are off to montreal on sunday for a week. breezy and i are tagging along while drew works at mcgill for a week. i can’t wait to explore montreal with my camera!
