i usually don’t write much with my blog posts but i have so much to say about this wedding. seriously, my second shooter and i kept looking at each other the entire day and saying “i can’t believe we are shooting this”, “i LOVE these guys”, “this is the best wedding”, and on and on…
was it the location (silvertip golf course in canmore could not have been more perfect), the way a and m look at each other, the obvious love their family’s and friend’s have for them, the super relaxed day they created for their wedding, the personal details? i am not sure what it was but it all came together to be a wedding i won’t forget!
the more weddings i have been a part of the more i get an image of what a perfect wedding day would look like. this wedding was exactly the kind of wedding i have been wanting to shoot! their wedding day timeline was very different from the standard wedding days that i am usually a part of and this blog post is here to tell you that it worked perfectly!
i have always wanted to shoot a very late ceremony where the guests went right into cocktails and i had cocktail hour to take pictures. now, this means a couples of things:
1) the ceremony and reception location need to be the same place or veeeery close together and
2) you aren’t going to get a million family groupings and wedding party groupings.
I LOVED HOW THIS WEDDING DAY TURNED OUT. as you will read below, the way their day unfolded was perfect. i realize this may not be every bride’s ideal wedding day timeline but i want this blog post to show you that it can be done!! i will stop with my ranting and raving now and let you enjoy the images… i could not narrow it down so you have a lot of scrolling to do!
and, a warning, i interject in this post a lot to share about the day and rant some more about how perfect it was. *special note* brides, please let me know if you have any questions about a and m’s wedding day timeline and how it all worked out. and, if you are interested in your day going like this (late ceremony straight into cocktails…) please send me an email as i have a special deal for you! the ceremony started at 4pm and it was perfect (have i used that word a couple of times already?!). it allowed for a much later start to getting ready (translation: wedding party gets to sleep in!), the sun was getting lower, and there wasn’t 8 locations for formals (and time for the wedding party to get cranky)! once their beautifully touching ceremony was through there was time for some champagne toasts, family formals, and then some shots with the wedding party before i whisked a and m away for some alone time and photos. we literally had one hour in total to get through family, wedding party, and couple images. was anyone stressed?? not at all (well, my second shooter and i were sweating a bit more than usual!)? did we get what we wanted?? totally!! and, where were all the awesome guests while we were shooting like crazy? enjoying cocktails overlooking the mountains and golf course! what could be more perfect as a guest?! another perfect detail about their day was that our late start time as photographers allowed us to shoot the reception space before heading out to shoot the getting ready so we were able to get a lot of details of the room and decor without anyone inside and with the beautiful daylight streaming in. a and m had so many unique touches to their decor, many brought up from mexico! ** trust me when i say the candy buffet was as amazing as it looked! we finished our mini session with a and m at the end of cocktail hour, just in time for them to be announced as the new mr. and mrs.!! after dinner (salmon- oh my gosh- unreal) was complete and speeches (i was bawling behind the camera) were through there was some mingling time so we snuck a and m out for a couple more shots of just the two of them and then even had some time to grab some sweet couples shots of the wedding party too! one of the last things i will say about the timeline and this perfect wedding is that because of the late start time my second shooter and i were able to stay till the very end of the wedding (literally, we were there when the lights went on and were one of the last cars out of the parking lot!!). i loved it so much. i got to snap up so much fun and so many moments that normally wouldn’t be captured. *sigh* i love these two. thank you again a and m for including me in your wedding day, i am so thankful. and, special shout-out to jaleen, my super amazing and always awesome second shooter for this wedding!
