2011 wedding review

a small sampling of some of my favourite images from weddings in 2011. it is simple things about these images i love so much- the emotion they display and the story they tell. i read this quote yesterday and it rang so true for how i try to shoot and what i strive to provide my clients…

i second shot a lot of amazing weddings with some AMAZING photographers this summer. i am just starting to go through my second shooting images so i can share them with you and this one popped out at me. how gorgeous is she?!

this was from a wedding i shot back in july with the crazy talented pink sugar photography. more to come later!

for now, black and white or colour… i can’t decide!

j and m are married

knowing and loving j and m made shooting their wedding that much sweeter. i had so much fun with them all day and their wedding was SO amazingly beautiful. j thought of everything and every single last little detail was thought through and gorgeous. i am so thrilled that i was a part of their wedding and even got to kick off my shoes at the end of the night and bust it on the dancefloor. thank you j and m .

r and j are married

i went home after r and j’s wedding and hugged drew a little harder than usual. not to get all sappy on you all, but these two are the epitome of two people in love and you cannot help but want to love yours a little better after being around them. it was an honour to capture their love and get to know them.

ps- their beautiful ceremony space is hastings lake gardens. it is such a beautiful location for your wedding ceremony!

b and m are married

*sigh* b and m’s wedding was so amazing. i have never cried so much during a ceremony or had so much fun at a dance! my day started with b and her gals at the hotel and then we were off to the salon. after some awesome hair-do’s, that set of girls left to make room for m and her gals. the salon was right around the corner from the hotel so it was easy to get around and go back and forth between the two brides (who were getting ready just down the hall from each other)! after a gorgeous and super touching ceremony on tunnel mountain we completed ‘formals’ in a record setting amount of time and then headed back to the banff park lodge to celebrate and party!

thank you SO much b and m, for including drew and i in all of your festivities. we were thrilled to be there and celebrate with you two!

m and s are married

i have been looking forward to this wedding ever since meeting with m and s waaaaay back last july! i could tell they were totally my kind of couple. m and s are so laid back and had lots of non-traditional aspects to their wedding which made it so totally them. i am all about a wedding being exactly what the couple wants. s’s red toms and m’s red nikes were just one of the little details that made this wedding special. they also opted not to have a head table, and chose a venue which had a wonderful lounge atmosphere where guests mingled, danced, ate, and drank at their leisure.

i am so lucky i got to spend the day with these two and their loved ones!

j and j are married

what an awesome day that was! from a bustling house where the girls were getting ready, to a super touching “first look” in the farmyard, to a very meaningful ceremony, onto formals in the bright sun, and then an awesome party… j and j, their wedding party, and family’s were happy and excited all day and you couldn’t help but be swept up into the emotion.

my apologies for the epic blog post but i just couldn’t narrow it down!

m and m : married

this wedding was so. much. fun. i should have known after the blast we had at their engagement shoot but how was i to know the parents and wedding party would be just as hilarious as them?! i started with the girls and then it was off to the church for a beautiful ceremony full of emotion. every single one of the wedding party members went to jasper place high school so we went there for some fun portraits and then moved on the the unbelievably gorgeous gardens at the oasis centre. seriously, i would love to shoot in their gardens every weekend! at the reception the food was fabulous, the speeches were touching, and they had the best first dance i have ever seen!

t and m : married

oh, how i adore these two! i was lucky enough to shoot their bump and newborn photos so when they asked me to document their wedding i was thrilled. their wedding was just as they wanted it and it was truly perfect.

there was a house full of family before the ceremony…

the ceremony was full of love and smiles between t and m…

family portraits were super important to these guys! they are all so sweet with each other.

i could shoot these two all day- we were on a time crunch but still managed to have a fabulous (albeit buggy) time out in the fields!

i could have done an entire blog post just on the reception. it was a blast! cupcakes were thrown, tears were shed, people busted it on the dance floor, and the newlyweds let me sneak them out to the parking lot for some last quick shots.

colleen and andy : married

i very strongly believe your wedding should be exactly as you want it! well, colleen and andy wanted a late ceremony right into their reception so that is what they had. we ended up with about 40 mins for all the formal photography after the ceremony and, you know what? it was awesome!! they had an amazing wedding day- exactly as they wanted it.

colleen and andy are a fun and super special couple. it was a pleasure to be around their love all day.

their ceremony and reception was at the old timers cabin and it was a perfect location. it totally suited them and the meal was terrific as always. i think i ate about 10 of those yummy ‘pedeshka’ (sorry, don’t know how to spell it!).
